‘Archy’ exhibition continues at Peppin

There are two weeks remaining if you want to see one of Australia’s most iconic events on the art calendar right here in Deniliquin.

The Bald Archy Prize exhibition is available for viewing at the Peppin Heritage Centre in George St until Saturday, June 1, after which its tour of NSW and Victoria will continue.

It is a humorous imitation of more serious competitions and provides artists of all styles and standards with a genuine opportunity, ranging from the hilarious to the bizarrely vulgar, to create portrait paintings of well-known Australians.

Although created as something of a joke, the Bald Archy Prize has become an icon on the Australian art calendar, due to the absurdist nature of the event, which features irreverent comic and satirical images of prominent Australians.

Jerilderie artist Ros Lockhart has her work ‘Grit & Termination’, an acrylic on sandpaper painting, featured in the exhibition.

It has toured in Canberra and Sydney and will go to Brisbane, Leura, Coffs Harbour, Melbourne, Corowa and Temora.
