Brett Petersen was in a slight state of shock when he collected his $50 Deni Gift Card prize from the Deniliquin Pastoral Times on Friday.
He is the first weekly winner of the new Golden Bunny Bonanza shop local promotion.
His entry ticket was plucked from the barrel at Deniliquin Central IGA on Friday, which coincidentally is where he earned his winning entry.
‘‘We only did the shop the other day too,’’ he said when claiming the prize.
‘‘My mum’s name went on half the tickets and mine went on the others.
‘‘IGA is where we spend most of our money, so it makes sense that’s where our ticket came from.’’
The Deni Gift Card is a Deniliquin Business Chamber initiative, and can be spent at any local business which accepts the cards.
Through the Golden Bunny Bonanza, $6300 in these gift cards will be won between now and December 20.
There will be another five $50 cards drawn over the next five weeks, followed by five $200 weekly draws and a grand prize of $5000 drawn at the end.
Local shoppers earn an entry ticket for every $20 spent at a participating business — up to 10 tickets in any one transaction.
Simply fill out the ticket and place it in the barrel at IGA or the entry box at a participating businesses.
Weekly winners are drawn on Friday afternoons, and will be contacted by the Pastoral Times.
