Mental health matters in every workplace

By Deniliquin Pastoral Times

During February, we will be holding a Mental Health First Aid Course.

It is the final event in our Mental Health in the Workplace initiative.

We have previously held two very successful workshops in 2019, and this final event will be held across two days.

The course teaches adults the skills needed to support individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, and how to provide first aid in a mental health crisis.

The course is suitable for any employee, employer, managers and community members who want to develop the skills to identify the signs and symptoms of mental health, and find where to get professional support.

We are currently finalising the details, but spaces will be limited and we expect it will fill up fast.

So keep an eye out for when registrations open, or get in contact with Lauren today to register your interest. Phone 5881 2621 or email them.

■ Anyone requiring crisis support can contact NSW Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511, Lifeline Australia on 13 11 14, BeyondBlue on 1300 224 636 or Kids Helpline on 1800 551 800.

Local directory has dropped

Don’t forget to grab your 2020 Deniliquin Telephone and Business Directory; they are a must have for every household in this region.

They are available at Deniliquin Newsagency or the Deniliquin Pastoral Times.

For just $5 you have local home, mobile and business contact details right at your fingertips.

The directory is a major fundraiser for the Deniliquin Business Chamber, and the sales of the book allow us to run community events such as the Do It In Deni Street Bazaar.

So think local, and pick up your updated copy today!

Congratulations to our competition winners

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Deni Lights Up Christmas Lights Competition — Naponda Community Store and the Spinks Family.

There were some pretty spectacular entries that made it hard for the judges, but the winners were both well-deserved entries.

A big thanks to our collaborators on the Christmas lights competition — Hamish and the team at Elders Real Estate, Edge FM and the Pastoral Times.

Without their support and sponsorship, we would not be able to run this great community initiative.

Upcoming events

Can you believe it is almost time for the 2020 Do It In Deni Street Bazaar?

We have just started to plan for the 2020 event, which will again be held on the Saturday of the Victorian long weekend in March.

At the Do It In Deni Street Bazaar we throw open our doors to visitors and locals alike and show off the best that Deni has to offer in an extravaganza of sounds, sights, smells, and shopping.

We are joining forces with our local community groups, businesses and residents to bring you the best from our own backyard at this fun and inclusive event.

Community groups or organisations wishing to get involved are urged to get in touch with Lauren at the Chamber today!
